Practicing attorney of three decades, mother of six, wife of 33 years, author, law professor,  lover of people, justice and truth. Finesse champions the causes of the underprivileged, incarcerated and those who have been wronged through injustice. As the former Executive Director of the NC Inmate Grievance Board for nearly  three decades, Finesse resolved grievances of inmates who are often overlooked and mistreated. Finesse lectures across the country and consults correctional institutions on the benefits and long lasting effects of using education to correct correctional facilities and end the school to prison pipeline. Finesse is also am active member of the community who spends her spare time doing pro-bono work serving the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and New Bern, NC communities.

A passionate  expert on the penal system and education, Finesse is adamant about making an impact on mass incarceration and the systemic mistreatment of inmates. Beyond  her work, Finesse is a friend, a woman with wisdom and grace doing all that she does with compassion, humility and of course, finesse.
